Zone Alarm is quite simply one of the finest antivirus software available on the market, and it has been giving exemplary service for nearly a decade. The Zone Alarm free edition is a very effective antivirus system that functions well on any stand-alone computer. It works excellently as a personal firewall, and it is very easy to install on your stand-alone PC.
A word of caution, though; if you are working on a network, you should not just install Zone Alarm and leave it at that. If you do so, you may unwittingly create problems for yourself. The Zone Alarm works so well that it will block even incoming data from your network.
This does not mean the Zone Alarm antivirus program will not function under a networked environment. It only means that you must give prior information to Zone Alarm to recognise your network and enable it to function accordingly.
While it is easy to install Zone Alarm to a stand-alone computer, it is not that easy to install and configure the free version Zone Alarm software into a network.

Supposing you have two computers, one serving as host and the other as client. Supposing the host PC runs on Windows XP Home version, and the client PC uses Windows XP Professional version, we will have to find out whether the configuration of Zone Alarm software will be affected.
