Keep Your PC Safe with Multiple Programs
You may believe that you have the best program, the most well-known antivirus software installed in your computer. It may be Norton, McAfee, AVG or any of the dominant products in the security software market. And you feel you can now breathe easy because your computer is now fully secure.
There may be good reasons to think so. After all, when we buy antivirus software we tend to equate high price with high quality, or with best service. And, the brand-name products have indeed gained good reputations for their antivirus capability.
It is natural that we trust the brand-name products, so much that even if someone gave us free antivirus software we are not likely to use it for fear of getting inadequate security.
But take a minute to reflect on this. Most virus creators know that more people have installed the branded products on their PCs. It is also perfectly natural for them to create viruses targeted to break through the security features of these well-known brands. If they can successfully break through these brands, it will be easier for them to scatter their virus creations through the Internet. The popular brands chosen for security by users are also brands specifically targeted by virus writers. There's the rub.

You are always advised to install well recognised antivirus software. And it makes sense to do that. But it may not be enough, if you want some peace of mind. You must realise that despite having the popular systems in place, thousands upon thousands of PCs get infected every day. What more can you do?
It is best to also install a less known antivirus software. There are several of these systems that may be just as effective as the more well known brands but do not have the marketing clout to achieve greater renown. Because they are not as popular, relatively fewer people have them on their PCs. For this reason, virus creators do not target such software systems.
With at least two systems side by side, the renowned, brand-name antivirus software and the lesser-known, capable software, you can rest easier knowing that you have double protection.
One other thing: do not forget to get regular updates on the virus definition files for each of the security software programs you have. No updates? You may as well forget about being secure.
